Recycling X-Rays by Crafting
Friday September 5, 2008
Here is an interesting question recently posted on the Family Crafts Forum. I have done a little searching to try to help Lplater out, but I haven't had much luck yet. Perhaps you can help:

"...I have some old X-Rays. I remember years ago hearing how children can use old X-Rays to do craft activities. I know it involved writing on them but, for the life of me, I cant think of what it was. Does any one have any ideas? I would love to hear any ideas for activities for 3-5 year olds that are creative..."I have never used x-rays for crafts or any other reason, have you? Are they safe for children to handle and craft with? I will continue my search and hopefully someone out there can give Lplater some input too, all you need to do is log onto the forum and post a response. If you visit the forum you can also read the entire post.

I seem to remember that you could use exposed x-ray film, or photo negatives, to make “glasses” out of to view eclipses through. I think you might be able to use them to make stencils. If they are large,(not dental), you could cut out the body part xrayed, attach to white fabric and make a pretty cool costume. For a Harry Potter party, I copied photos of some of the characters onto transparencies and stuck them in front of mirrors and candles. They looked pretty eerie and the guests loved them. You could do the same with xrays, I expect.
