Designing a Purse

By , About.com GuideSeptember 11, 2008

Follow me on:

I have been meaning to design a purse since July 5th... I know the exact date because Katie (my daughter) and I hosted a jewelry party/recipe exchange that day, and two of her friends had the cutest purses. Purses I want to 'combine' together to create an even cuter purse! Has it been more than two months already? Where do the days go?

The purse pictured here is one of those that visited my house that day. The other purse is very similar. I have created my own purse pattern one time before but it was much simpler; in fact, you can find it here. If any of you have done something similar, let me know and share any tips or advice!

I am not yet sure what I will do once I design a purse, if I even can... Perhaps mass produce and try to sell them? Probably not because I tend to get too bored doing the same craft over and over again. Maybe I will try to write up a pattern to sell? Maybe, like before, I will post the pattern here for all to download for free. We will see...

A number of Etsy members sell patterns, so that is an option. I think it is probably a much better idea than making the finished piece because I can’t imagine you’d get paid enough for the time you would put into it, even the simple purse project you have, plus I agree. I also don’t like making the same thing over and over again.
