Unused Register Tape

Thursday November 27, 2008
A visitor nicknamed mjdeshaw recently posted this plea for help on the Family Crafts Forum:

"I was given several boxes of unused register tape... How can I turn these into an inexpensive craft for kids?"

The first thing that popped into my mind was to make fancy cut-out paper chains of gingerbread men or other holiday designs. Another holiday decorating idea might be to write out your favorite holiday story and let your kids illustrate it on the tape and then hang it up around your house! I bet there are a lot of other great ideas out there. If you have a creative use for this register tape, please take a moment to post a reply.

We used adding machine paper at our preschool for a Valentines day craft. We measured how tall each child was and cut the paper to their height. Then we printed “I Love You This Much” on the paper and the kids decorated the rest of the paper. We rolled it up and tied it with a bow.
