Why not take some time today to make special home-made gifts to surprise your neighbors and friends on May Day (May 1st). May Day is celebrated in many places around the world. The traditions and stories surrounding May Day vary from place to place. There is, however, one thing that is similar in most celebrations - the use of Flowers! Do you ever surprise your neighbor with a May Day basket or other May Day treats?

Well, I just did a quick google search on the origins of May Day in the U.S. For me to recognize this day would be to support Socialism. I really enjoy your blog, but I’m opting to ignore any “May Day” activities you have, thank you.

I was told a few years ago it was a celebration from countries that had socialism, but as a young child it was the celebration of spring that we enjoyed. Nothing political was ever said. We made baskets and put flowers on them and gave hung them on doors. fun fun…

When I was a child, we would make little baskets out of colored paper, put flowers in them, and then go to a lady’s home and leave it at her door. To us, this was a sign of respect for her, nothing political.
