Awhile back, I introduced you to TerraCycle and their Brigades. I hope you took some time to not only explore them but to also join them.

Previously, TerraCycle shared directions on how to make a Colgate toothpaste tube toothbrush or pencil holder in honor of their newest Colgate Oral Care Brigade. This time, they are sharing another project with us.

Drink Pouch Wallet Craft
Follow these directions and you can make a functional wallet using 2 empty juice pouches.

This craft is presented in honor of Terracycle's Drink Pouch Brigade hitting the mark of $1 Million donated (to schools and non-profits) and over 50 Million drink pouches saved (and turned into fun and unique products)! How amazing is that!!?!?!

Here are some fun facts about what 50 Million drink pouches are equal to:

Surface area:

  • 125 x the area of Yellowstone
  • 9 x the area of the Grand Canyon
  • 2 x the size of New Jersey
  • 480 football fields

Weight:

  • 75 Hummers
  • 150 Priuses
  • 41 elephants
  • 20 school buses

Height:

  • 807 Mt. Everest's
  • 18,600 Empire State Buildings

Just think, all of those drink pouches could be sitting in a landfill right now; but, because people like you cared, those drink pouches are now backpacks, tote bags, and many other products.

Take some time to learn more about TerraCycle and all of their Brigades, including the Terracycle's Drink Pouch Brigade. As I mentioned in my last blog post about Terracycle, the Brigades they run are national programs where you can earn cash for your trash (all money is paid to schools and non-profits). You can participate in any or all of TerraCycle's Brigade for free. There are no sign-up fees and all the shipping is covered by the program. All of the items sent to TerraCycle will be transformed into new cool products. For each approved item TerraCycle receives, $0.02 will be paid to the non-profit organization or school of your choice.
