The upcoming Memorial Day weekend is popular for camping and gathering with friends and family and having picnics and barbecues! Do you incorporate crafting into your plans? There are plenty of outdoor craft kits you can buy. These are great to take along on a camping trip or a picnic or to use at home. Even if you aren't going camping, who wants to spend time gathering craft supplies and sitting inside to make crafts?
You can plan some outdoor mini-adventures to do while camping or in your own backyard. Make some crafts that will go along with bird watching, a nature hike, or even create your own safari.
If the kids are getting antsy waiting to leave for a camping trip or picnic, perhaps you can entertain them with some camping and picnic related coloring pages or beaded safety pin patterns. There are also several other craft projects you can make to take along on your journey, like the glow stick necklace pictured here.
Finally, don't forget about gathering together some projects to keep the kids entertained on the drive to where ever you are going. I have several creative travel projects. You can print out travel games, try simple projects, and much more. Whether you are planning a camping trip or just wish you were going camping, you are sure to find something to spark your creativity!

Thanks for all the great ideas Sherri. My six year old starts summer vacation next week and I am trying to find things to keep him occupied. This should keep us busy for a while!
Thanks for these great ideas, Sherri. My daughter wants a “Barbie Goes Camping” birthday this summer, so this will be helpful. We’d already planned to make glow-stick fireflies, but I’ll have to check out all these other suggestions. Perfect timing.
Sounds like a very fun and very pink slumber party!
Thanks for the travel projects. One can never have too many of those!
I was never into camping, but maybe if there were crafts involved, it wouldn’t be so bad!
What fun summer crafts. My girls are going to love these!
