We just passed the half-way point to Halloween. You now have less than 6 months to get ready for Halloween! Some people may think that it is too early to think about Halloween, but actually, Halloween seems to top of list of people's favorite crafting holidays. If you think about it, now might be the perfect time to start getting ready for Halloween! It won't be too long until many kids are out of school for their Summer vacation, and it also won't be long until they are bored. As soon as they start complaining about being bored, you can start crafting and planning for Halloween! You can keep them busy by getting them starting on designing a costume, crafting a mask or two, and start creating decorations and props for a haunted house or yard.
If you start planning your Halloween party now, there will be less stress and work to do when it gets closer to Halloween. You can create your own Halloween party invitations. Test out several Halloween party games and decide which ones you want to play at your party. You can also make and taste test a variety of Halloween treat recipes. If you figure out all of the details of your party and make your shopping lists now, you can watch for great sales and buy your party supplies a little at a time.
It might be too early to carve a pumpkin, but it is the perfect time of year to plant your own pumpkin patch! Your kids can spend time during the Summer months tending to their growing pumpkins and proudly harvest them when the time comes. While they are waiting for their pumpkins to grow, they can start searching for that perfect pumpkin carving pattern or to make crafts that look like pumpkins. They can also explore pumkpin recipes, pumpkin games, and pumpkin decorating ideas.
If you're not sure if you want to start planning for Halloween yet, I have some Halloween photo galleries that might inspire you. You can start out by browsing the photos in the haunted house photo gallery to see Halloween decorations made by myself and others. Take a peek at photos of Halloween cards and invitations, both hand-made and printable. Get motivated by exploring photos of home-made Halloween costumes; you are sure to find something to get your creative, and maybe creepy, juices flowing. Finally, check out all of the photos of carved and decorated pumpkins. As you can tell by these photos, pumpkins aren't just for Halloween anymore!
