I never thought about covering notebooks this way. I have covered numerous photo albums for wedding gifts, baby shower gifts using this method- except I add eyelet or lace around the edges inside before covering with fabric.
This post makes me nostalgic for that first week of school with my kids where we would all scramble to get the books covered
