Echidna
- An echidna is also known as a spiny anteater.
- The echidna is an egg laying marsupial called a monotreme.
- They have sharp spikes covering their bodies, just like a porcupine.
- They have long tongues which helps them catch their food - mainly ants and termites.
Kookaburra
- The kookaburra is a large bird with a big beak.
- The kookaburra's loud cry almost sounds like human laughter, that it why it is sometimes called a Laughing Kookaburra.
- A kookaburra will eat insects and small reptiles, and have even been known to eat the young of other birds and snakes.
- There has been a song written about the Kookaburra and also a legend about their laugh!

Platypus
- The platypus is a strange looking animal. It has a bill like a duck and a tail like a Beaver.
- Like the echidna, a platypus is a monotreme.
- A platypus eats its food underwater. It likes worms and insect amongst other things.
- The platypus uses its large flat tail and webbed feet to paddle underwater.
