Flying Butterfly

By Sherri Osborn, About.com Guide

MomAtHome shares directions for making a butterfly you can pretend is flying.

Materials Needed:

  • Orange, Yellow, White construction Paper
  • Pom Poms
  • Sequins
  • Crayons and/or markers
  • 1/4" Dowel rods
  • Scotch tape
  • Glue

Instructions:
Cut butterfly shapes out of construction paper. I used one whole sheet to make a large butterfly.

Fold the butterfly in half in half vertically and cut four 1/4" slits down the middle where the body would be (to insert dowel rod). Let children decorate with pom poms (used white glue, sequins, and crayons/ markers.

When glue dries, insert dowel rod through the slits and secure with scotch tape.

Let the children all run around outside and "fly" their butterflies!
