Jelly Jar Candle Holder Craft

Instructions to make candle holders out of jelly jars, submitted by Tonya Tweed.

Materials Needed:

  • Glass jelly jar (or baby food jar etc...)
  • Construction paper
  • Clear contact paper
  • Scissors
  • Small votive or tealight candle

Instructions:

  1. Wash and dry glass jar.

  2. Cut out shapes from colored construction paper (red Valentine hearts...green Shamrocks..etc.).

  3. Use fine tip markers to write phrases on the shapes (heart...Love) (Shamrock...kiss me I'm Irish) etc....

  4. Cut a piece of clear contact paper at least 1in. larger around than the construction paper shapes..

  5. Peel the backing off of contact paper..

  6. Place decorated construction paper shape on sticky side of contact paper with decorated side of the "shape" showing through the non-sticky side of contact paper..

  7. Use scissors to trim the contact paper according to the shape ...MAKING SURE to leave at least 1/2-inch of the contact paper exposed around the outside of the "shape".

  8. Stick the shapes onto the glass jar.

  9. Insert small votive or tealight candle.

The possibilities are endless... personalized... holidays... birthdays... teacher gifts... etc...
