Lay out the pieces as you will want them on the plate; when they appear ok, you smear the back of the clear plate with Mod Podge. You then stick your pieces of wallpaper onto the Mod Podge. You can slide them around till they meet your approval. Then with your sponge or sponge brush you smear more Mod Podge to the back of the wallpaper pieces-- in this case the more Mod Podge the better. It will appear to look mucky, but when it is dry it will dry clear or glossy dependent on which type of Mod Podge you purchased.
Select a color of tissue paper that you want to use for the background, I have used gold and silver at times and it looks very rich. Stretch it across the back of the "wet" plate and fit it nicely, trim away pieces that extend the plate with a sharp pair of scissors. The more crinkles the better, it gives the glass plate an interesting look.
If you want, you can also smear Mod Podge to the front of the glass plate,. You can leave it just plain or you can add a smaller cut out piece of wallpaper. Just be sure to Mod Podge over it well. For example in my sample picture, I added a cut out butterfly and bee to the front of my sunflower patterned plate.
The secret to this project is to be sure to use enough Mod Podge...
Let the plate dry well, at least 48 hours. Then, if you want to add a border around the glass plate, use paints specific for glass.
You can also add a poem or a signature, by "glueing" on a photo copied message or poem - the kids love personalizing these plates... Voila - a gift that will last a long time and may even co-ordinate with the borders in your room.

Cut out your pieces or patterns from the wallpaper sample. The larger the pieces the easier to cut, especially for children.
