Pajama Bag Craft

By , About.com Guide

Instructions to make a handy pajama bag out of a pillowcase. Great simple sewing project, submitted by Melissa.

Materials Needed:

  • Standard pillow case
  • Cord, strong ribbon, or string
  • Needle and thread
  • Fabric paints (optional)
  • Straight pins

Instructions:
Find a suitable pillowcase and lay the ribbon or cord 2-3 inches from the top of the open end, both front and back. Fold the top of the pillowcase over the ribbon leaving space for stitching. Pin the fabric (be careful not to pin the cord).

Stitch both sides wih a simple slip stitch (or glue, safety pins, etc). Leave a small space on a corner for the cord ends to come through. Cut a small hole between the fold and the edge and pull the two ends of the cord out, tie those ends together in a knot. Finish stitching along the bottom.

Now you basically have a large drawstring bag. Use fabric paints to decorate (remember to put something in the middle so the paint doesn't go through). When dry put the pajamas in the bag and hang on a bedpost, doorknob, or in a closet!

This project emerged after organizing my daughters clothing, I found I had no place to put all her pajamas. Works great. Now all my friends want one too!
