Jellyfish Mobile

By Sherri Osborn, About.com

Find out how you can make a fun jellyfish using a styrofoam cup.

Materials Needed:

  • Styrofoam or Paper Cup
  • Construction Paper (whatever color you prefer)
  • Crepe Paper Streamers (to match your construction paper)
  • Markers or Crayons
  • Yarn
  • Glue

Instructions:
Cover the cup with construction paper. (you can also paint the cup if you like). Turn the cup upside down and poke 2 small holes in the bottom of the cup, about 1-inch apart. Cut a piece of yarn about 2 feet long. String each end through one of the holes and tie the ends together inside the cup. This will be your mobile hanger.

Cut eight 12-inch long pieces from the crepe paper. Start out but gluing the end of one just barely inside the cup (most of it will be hanging outside the cup. Glue in another piece of crepe paper in the same manner directly across from the first one. Glue another pice of crepe paper inbetween the first 2; then, glue another piece directly across from that. Continue this process until all the crepe paper pieces are used. The last 4 will overlap the sides of the first 4!

Once the glue from the crepe paper is dry, turn the cut upside down so the crepe paper hangs freely. Use a marker or crayons to draw a face (you can also use wiggle eyes!). Your mobile is now ready to hang!
