Make a mini house using a shoe box, cardboard, and paper towel roll - shared by Angie.

Materials:

  • 1 shoe box
  • 1 paper towel roll
  • 1 piece of cardboard as long as the shoe box, but a good deal wider than the shoe box is deep.
  • Glue, tape or adhesive putty--but only if you want to make the modular design permanent.

Instructions:
Put the shoe box on its side on top of the lid. Fix in place with glue if you like. Then cut a long slit in the back of the shoe box, right down the middle. Put the piece of cardboard through the slit so some of it is on one side and some more of it is on the other. The bit sticking out at the back of the shoe box is a second-story back deck. The half sticking out the front is the second floor and an upper storey front balcony. Take the paper towel roll and cut two pieces of it the right size to act as supporting pillars to the front balcony. Fix with tape, glue or adhesive putty if you like.

There is your modern modular house--open at the front to make putting your people or animals in easier. You can take it apart and rearrange the elements to make different types of house also.

Decorate in whatever way you like and have fun.
