Pet Matching Game

By Sherri Osborn, About.com

Instructions to make your own pet matching game from magazines.

Materials Needed:

  • Magazines
  • Lightweight Cardboard or Index Cards
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Pencil or Pen
Instructions:
Decide what kind of matching game you want to make. You can make it to match adult and baby animals, animals of the same species, animals of the same color, etc.

Once you figure out your game, cut as many pictures of different pets as you can out of the magazines. Once your pictures are cut, you can glue them on the lightweight cardboard or index cards. Label each card so there is no confusion once your start playing the game. For example, if you have a picture of a black, adult dog, you can write that on the card.

This game is played like concentration. You lay down all the cards face down. The first player flips over 2 cards; if those 2 cards match, the player takes those 2 cards and goes again. If those 2 cards do not match, the players turn is over and the next person goes. The game is played until all the cards are gone. The players then count how many cards they collected and whomever has the most cards wins!
