American Flag Beaded Safety Pin

Sherri Osborn
The American Flag has long been a treasured symbol of our the Unites State. The flag has changed many times since Betsy Ross sewed the first one in 1776.

In 1776, the flag started out with thirteen stripes, alternating red and white, and thirteen white stars on a blue background. Throughout the years, a star has been added to the flag for each new state as it joined the union. Today, the flag we proudly display has 13 stripes and 50 stars.

Get into the patriotic spirit by trying one of these flag related crafts!

After you make a flag or two, why not create your own fireworks...
