Liz Hermens shares instructions for making large and small flowers using tissue paper.

Materials Needed:

  • multicolors of tissue paper
  • paperclips
  • wire
  • 1 foot tall garden stakes

Instructions:
To make a large flower:
1. Measure out paper of your choice, approx. 14" x 20" in 2-4 colors with the top most being in the center, the next layer surounding the center, ect.
2. Fold the paper acordian style.
3. Put the paper clip holding the folds together to form a thick strip of paper making sure the color you want in the middle is facing up, attach the wire to form a bit of a stem.
4. Pull the top layer of paper up out of the fold to form a ball in the middle, then squish this together. do this until all layers are pulled up and scrunched.
5. Squish and fluff until desired shape/ size is found.
6. Wrap the wire around the stake to make a stiff stem.

To make a small flower, measure the tissue paper to 4" x 20" instead of 14" x 20". Follow directions 2 - 6 above. Sometimes a stake is not needed for the small flower.
