By Sherri Osborn, About.com

Lisa Marie explains how to make a unique magnet using a clothespin.

Materials Needed:

  • Paint (acrylic is great), or crayons and markers
  • Clean clothespins
  • Paintbrushes
  • Bowls
  • Pencil or pen
  • Small-width magnetic backing (and glue if it is not self-adhesive)
  • **Remember newspaper (and even gloves)**

Instructions:
Great gift idea for anyone with a locker or fridge!!!

  1. Get all supplies ready.

  2. (If you are working with markers or crayons, you can ignore .) Their are 2 options to painting these:
    • Put on plastic gloves (if you want to) and dip the clothespin into a bowl of paint. OR
    • Use the paint brush to paint whatever design, like stripes, on it.

  3. Let dry. (*hint* They can be propped up with a pencil or paintbrush while drying)

  4. Write the name or nickname of who-ever is getting this magnet on one side with a pencil.

  5. Using a this paintbrush, paint over the pencil. Add any other designs that you want to.

  6. Let dry.

  7. Cut an appropriate length of the backing and place it on the opposite side (opposite from where the name was painted)

~Now you have a cute gift for someone to keep pictures and papers from falling!
