Stone Bead Necklace
Instructions for making an easy necklace using stone beads. Makes a perfect gift!

Materials Needed:

  • Stone Beads (can be found in the bead section of most craft stores)
  • 2 inch Headpin (this looks like and extra long straight pin without the pointed end)
  • Needle Nose Pliers
  • Wire Cutter (please get an adult to help with this part!)
  • Thin Ribbon, Leather Lace, or Cording

Instructions:
You can find these beads in most craft stores. They have 2 styles, one that looks more like natural shaped rocks and others that are round like normal beads. You can use whichever of these you prefer! If you cannot find the real stone beads, you can use synthetic stone beads or even regular beads.

Choose anywhere between 4 - 6 stone beads to use. Decide on a pattern or design if necessary, and string them onto the headpin. You can string seed beads between your stones to add extra color or designs! When you get all your beads and stone on, you will use the needle nose pliers to bend down the end of the headpin in wrap it around itself just above the last stone. Make sure you leave an opening large enough to string the ribbon through.

Cut a piece of ribbon long enough so you can tie the ends together and still slide it easily over your head. String the ribbon through the hole in the headpin and tie the ends. You now have a fancy necklace that both adults and kids will love to wear!

Some people believe that semi-precious stones have special meanings and properties, so you might want to keep this in mind as you make your stone bead necklaces!
