Thanksgiving Character Puppets
Make Thanksgiving characters from cardboard toilet paper rolls.

Materials Needed:

  • Toilet Tissue Rolls
  • Craft Sticks
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Construction Paper
  • Misc. Craft Supplies (felt, moving eyes, yarn, etc.)
Instructions:
To make pilgrim puppets, cover the toilet tissue roll with black paper. Cut an approximate 2 inch circle out of white construction paper, draw a face on it, and glue it onto the the top side of the toilet tissue roll.

To make a boy pilgrim, add a black hat with a white band and a buckle using construction paper or even felt. You can also add a belt with a buckle, and a bow tie (yarn). To make a girl pilgrim, add a white apron and hat using construction paper and felt. Make a bow on her hat, under her chin using yarn if you like.

Use other scrap paper or felt to make other details if you like, such as hair, arms, legs. Be creative! Glue the craft sticks inside the bottom edge of the cardboard roll for the puppet handle. You can also make indians and turkeys this way.

11-Year-Old JP shares these suggestions for making an indian puppet: Cover a tiolet paper tube with brown paper fringe the bottom of the paper. Cut a 2-inch circle out of tan paper to be the face and glue it in place. Add details with construction paper such as hair, a head band, feathers, and anything else you want.
