Wooden Spoon Scarecrow

By Sherri Osborn, About.com

Shirley tells how she made scarecrow decorations using a wooden spoon.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 Large wooden spoon
  • Thin branches from a tree
  • Scraps of fabric
  • Constructon paper
  • Markers
  • Yarn
  • 2 Wiggle eyes
  • Pom-poms
  • Glue

Instructions:
First take the tree branches (you can also use wooden, shish-ka-bob skewers) and glue them onto wooden spoon, just below the spoon part for the arms and legs. Cut out material to resemble a pair of pants and a shirt, glue these onto the wooden spoon to cover the branches. Let everything dry.

While drying, you can cut a hat out of construction paper and cut some short lengths of yarn for the hair, hands, and feet. Once evrything is dry, glue the eyes, the pom-pom for the nose, and the hair to the spoon. Glue on the hat over the hair and also the short piece of yarn for the hand and feet. Draw a mouth and let dry again.

Once your wooden sppon scarecrow is dried, you can stand it up in a flowerpot or a floral arrangement it will make a nice piece for your Halloween display.!
