Judy explains how to make these simple soap bars with a hidden treat inside.

Materials:

  • Clear Glycerin (cut into small pieces)
  • Molds (hearts, flowers, shells, etc)
  • Small Charms (smaller than the molds)
  • Fragrance (optional)
  • Coloring (optional)

Instructions:
Place the pieces of glycerin in a styrofoam cup and place it in the microwave. Microwave at high for 30 second intervals until melted. Fill the mold almost half full with the glycerin and let it set. Place charm on that half and fill up the mold with the rest of the glycerin (you will more than likely have to reheat it).

Pop out when firm. Wrap in plastic wrap. Place in a soap dish along with three or four other soaps you have made. Makes a lovely gift to a young girl or teenager.

Note from Julie: Using styrofoam in a microwave is extremely dangerous. When the styrofoam is heated, it gives off harmful fumes, that make many people sick. (unless in a well ventalated area, but still best to avoid). Try using double layered dixie cups (stack one inside the other).
