Garbage Bag Spider
Instructions for making a LARGE spider using a garbage bag and a few other supplies.

Materials Needed:
  • 2 Large Black Garbage Bags
  • Newspaper (or balloons)
  • Black Yarn or String
  • Tape
  • Cardboard
Instructions:
Wad up the newspaper into 2 large balls (you can also use balloons). One for eah section of the spider's body.

Put one of your newspaper balls into the garbage bag so it rests on the bottom. Pull the garbage bag tight around the ball. Cut a piece of yarn or string and loosely tie it around the bag where the balll of newspaper is to hold it in place. Don't pull it too tight!

Put the second ball of newspaper into the garbage bag and let it rest against the first one. Again, pull the garbage bag tight around the ball. Gather the end of the garbage bag at the side of the second ball of newspaper. Tie the end with a small piece of yarn and trim of the extra bag.

Cut 8 thin strips of cardboard. Cut 8 strips from the second garbage bag that are about twice as wide and a few inches longer than your cardboard strips. Completely cover the cardboard pieces with the garbage bag strips. Use clear tape to hold it in place. Tape these legs onto the bottom on your spider (the side that you gathered and trimmed the bag on).

Use a paint or construction paper cut-outs to give your spider a spooky face.
