Mini Ice Cream Float Craft

By , About.com Guide

Make this mini ice cream float using pom-poms and a plastic lid.

Materials Needed:

  • Pom-Poms
  • Small, Cup Shaped Lids or a Clear Film Container
  • Red Beads
  • Small Cocktail Straws
  • Glue
  • String or Magnets
Instructions:
A very easy craft! The size of the pom-poms you need will vary depending on the size of lids you use. For example, lids from whipped cream bottle work nicely with 2 inch pom-poms. If you cannot find lids to use, you can purchase small, plastic cup/bell shaped containers from a craft store. For my explanation here, I will use a lid from a whipped cream bottle.

Choose 2 pom-poms. You will want to make sure that one of the colors match an ice cream flavor; such as, white for vanilla, brown for chocolate, or red for strawberry. Put a dab of glue inside the bottom of the lid. Place one pom-pom in the lid. Put a dab of glue on that pom-pom. Place your "ice cream colored" pom-pom on the glue. Put a dab of glue on the top center of that pom-pom and stick on the red bead (a cherry on top of your float!) Cut the straw down to the height of your lid plus 1 inch. Stick the straw down the inside of the lid between the lid and the pom-poms. Use a little glue to hold the straw in place.

If you want to be able to hang up your ice cream soda, you can glue on a string loop. You can also glue a heavy duty magnet on the back and hang it on the fridge!
