Blue Jean 'Pocket' Book Craft
Instructions to make a small purse using pockets from blue jeans - submitted by Connie in New York.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 pair old jeans with back pockets and good zipper
  • Iron on patch (optional)
Instructions:
Cut out back pockets, leaving about 1" around pocket. Remove zipper from front fly. Cut inseam along legs keeping the seam as a strip.

With fronts together, sew zipper centered at top of pockets. Press seam open and stitch down on each side of zipper. Open zipper half way.

With fronts together, insert end of inseam strip into front on each side below zipper. Stitch around pocket using about 1/2" seam and stitching double over handle end. Stitch again 1/8" from first seam to secure denim.

Clip corners if needed.

Turn pocket to front through zipper opening.

Iron on patch if desired. Tie knot in inseam strip for purse strap.

These have been a great teenager gift for practically nothing!
