Bean Bag Toy Pillow

By Sherri Osborn, About.com

Instructions to make a pillow for a bean bag toy or other stuffed animal.

Materials Needed:

  • Felt
  • Glue or Needle and Thread
  • Fiberfill, Foam, or Scrap Material
  • Misc Supplies such as Scrap Material, Ribbon, Buttons, Etc

Instructions:
This one if fairly easy. Cut out two rectangle shapes of the same size out of the felt. A good size is about 4 x 6 inches, but you might want to make them a little bigger for younger kids.

Squeeze some glue near the edge of one of the pieces of felt. You want glue on 3 of the 4 sides. Place the other piece of felt on the glued side of the felt. Make sure both pieces match up.

(Older kids can try their hand at sewing the two pieces together using a needle and thread!)

While this is drying, you can decorate your pillow. Use your imagination! You can try using scrap material, ribbin, lace, buttons, beads, fabric paint, etc. Once your pillow edges and designs are dry, gently stuff your pillow with the fiberfill, a small piece of foam, or scrap material. Make sure you do not over fill it or the glued edges might come apart.

Glue (or sew) the last side of the pillow closed! You can also use another piece of felt and decorate it to be a blanket to go with your bean bag toy pillow!
