Likeable Recyclables
By Linda Schwartz (The Learning Works)
Review by Sherri Osborn
If you have explored my web site much, you can tell by my
Trash to Treasures page that
I enjoy creating crafts from recyclable items. If you are interested
in this form of recycling as well, I would suggest checking out this
book. Linda Schwartz does a great job providing many creative
recycling ideas.
Use the handy checklist at the beginning of this book to start your
collection of recyclable objects. There is also a section listing
many miscellaneous craft supplies you might want to keep on hand.
Each project featured includes a list of supplies needed and
step-by-step directions for completing the project.
In this book you will find over 100 pages of craft projects using boxes,
bottles, cans, bags, cups, and more. Some of the projects are long-time
favorites a lot of adults will remember making, like tin can stilts, others
are fresh, new ideas such as the Cereal Box Kangaroo. Here are a few
examples of other crafts you will find in this book:
- Build a whole city out of empty cereal and other boxes.
- Make enough animals out of egg cartons to fill a pretend zoo!
- Construct a fun tossing game out of tuna cans.
- Design a dinosaur or piggy bank out of a bleach bottle!
- Create a puppet using paper cups
- Plus many, many more ideas.
This book is a great addition to any crafter's library. You can
make some fun craft projects, and help with the Earth's trash problem
at the same time!
