Gather your friends and family together and plan your own silly winter Olympic events! Here is a list of fun suggestions to get you started. I bet you can think of many more!
- If you have snow outside, have a snowball throwing contest... See who can through the farthest, who can be the most accurate, etc.
- Have a snow sledding contest. You can even have a parad ahead of time by decorating the sleds and walking through the neighborhood!
- Make round bean bags out of white material to look like snowballs. Have a snowball toss competition inside!
- Collect different pairs of gloves. Mix them up and set them in a pile. Take turns finding the matching gloves.
- Pick a winter sport theme and have a scavenger hunt to see who can find the most items related to that sport. You can also do this using the color white as a theme!
- Hide a mitten in the room somewhere and see who can find it first. Give them clues by telling them whether they are 'hot' (near the mitten) or 'cold' (far from the mitten).
- Blow up several white balloons and challenge the players to build an inside snow fort or snowman.
- If you have slippery hardwood or tiled floors, pretend to ice skate in your stocking feet.
- Have a snowflake cutting contest. See who can build the most or the fanciest snowflake in a predetermined amount of time.
- Have a snowman building contest, again setting a time limit if desired. If you do not have snow outside, make snowmen indoors by by stuffing large, white garbage bags with newspaper.
- Place small Styrofoam balls on spoons and try to carry these mini "snowballs" across the room without dropping them.
- Give everyone an ice cube and see who can find ways to melt them the fastest.
Now that you have your essentials made and you have decided which games to include in your own silly Olympics, you can take some time and make a few fun Winter sports related crafts. Can you think of any fun ideas? If so, take a minute and share them with everyone!
