Tin of Quotes Craft

Sherri Osborn
I really am not a pack rat, however there are some items I just cannot bear to throw away and tiny candy tins, like those you buy Altoid mints in, are one of those items. I figured the perfect use for a small tin is to fill it with short, inspirational quotes!

  • Age Guideline: 6 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Start out by cutting a strip of cardstock as wide as the Altoids Mint tin or whatever tin you are using.Accordion fold it to for a little booklet that fits into the tin. This should leave you with 6 folded sections to write quotes on. If you want more than 6 sections, you can cut a few strips and glue them together. Just make sure that the accordion-folded stack is not too thick to fit into the tin.

It is easiest to write out the quotes before it is glued into the tin, but you can do it however you like. You can write your inspirational quotes all at once or you can fill up your book as you discover new quotes. This can also be used to write down cute things kids say, private jokes amongst friends, and so much more!

Use paint to decorate the Altoid Mint or candy tin. Once that paint is completely dry, spray the dry tin with a few coats of clear acrylic spray. You can also leave the Altoid tin as-is if you prefer or decorate it with other items you have.

Glue the end of the accordion-folded strip into the bottom of the Altoid tin. Glue the opposite end of the accordion-folded strip to the lid of the Altoid tin. Let the glue dry.
