Materials Needed:
- Sweatsuit
- Sheer fabric the same color as your sweatsuit
- Safety Pins
- Stuffing (see suggestions below)
Instructions:
You can choose whatever color sweatsuit you want your jelly fish to be; however, the color of the sweatsuit might be determined by the color of the sheer fabric you find! The colors do not have to be an exact match, just similar. The amount of sheer fabric you need will vary depending on the size of the person wearing the costume, but a yard for a child is a good starting point.
Measure the person who will be wearing the costume form the waist to the floor. You will want to cut several strips from the sheer fabric the length and about 2- to 3-inches wide. Pin one end of each strip to the sweatshirt, about 6-inches up from the bottom. Pin the strips all the way around the sweatshirt, side by side, so it almost resembles a skirt.
Put on the sweatsuit and stuff the shirt so it looks like a ball and the sheer fabric strips flow freely to the ground. You can stuff it with pillows, batting, scrap fabric, or anything else you have laying around. Tuck the bottom of the sweatshirt into the pants to hold the stuffing in place (you can also use a belt if you prefer).
Optional: Use fabric paint or even just felt to make eyes on your jellyfish.
