Skunk Costume
Free Halloween Costume Pattern and Instructions

By Sherri Osborn, About.com

Find out how to make this simple yet creative Halloween costume. Follow these directions and you can dress up as a skunk.

Materials Needed:

  • Black Hooded Sweatshirt
  • Black Sweatpants
  • Black Felt
  • White Fake Fur or Felt
  • Fabric or Craft Glue
  • Safety Pins

Instructions:
The amount of black felt and white fur you will need will depend on the size of the person the costume is for. Use the black felt to make a tail; it can be as simple as a rectangle that is tapered on one end. Using a few safety pins, attach the tail to the top, backside of the sweatpants. Take a few small scraps of the black felt, cut small triangles out of them, and pin them to the top of the hood to be ears. Now make a white line down the back of the tail and sweatshirt using the white fur or felt - don't forget to run the white line all the way to the top edge of the hood between the ears. You can glue on the white stripe, or, if you plan on wearing the sweatsuit after Halloween, you can use safety pins to hold the white stripe in place.

As a finishing touch you can use black eye liner or face paint and make yourself whiskers and a black nose.
