How to Make Organizers Out of Candlesticks and Jars

Sherri Osborn
Next time you go to a garage sale or thrift store, look for old candlesticks. You may also want to check your cupboards at home. I had some old ones I never used! Top them with a jar and you have a fancy container you can use for organizing or for a decoration.

  • Age Guideline: 12 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 60 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed to Make a Candlestick Organizer:

Instructions:

Cover your work area with newspaper to protect it while you paint. Make sure your candlestick and baby food jar and lid are clean and dry. Paint the candlestick and the jar lid. It may take several thin coats to get full coverage and the desired effect. If you like, you can use primer before you paint. Let the paint dry completely.

Once the paint is dry, use strong glue to attach the jar on top of the candlestick. Let the glue dry and your candlestick organizer is ready to use.

You can use it as a way to organize small items, like the buttons I have sorted by color in the picture here. You can also use it to hold candy or anything else you like. The funnest thing about this project is that not only are these handy organizers, they can also be unique decorations.
