How to Add a Mustache to a Baby Food Jar

Sherri Osborn
What better way to dress up a baby food jar than by giving it a charming mustache! This craft is fun and easy and it will have you looking at every jar you find just a little differently. Beware, adding a mustache to jars and other household may be addictive. You have been warned...

  • Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed to Make a Stache Jar:

Start out by making sure your baby food jar and the lid are clean and dry. Remove the lid and paint it black. Set it aside to dry. It may take more than one coat of paint to completely cover the lid.

Cut a rectangle of felt about 3-inches long by 1-inch high. Fold the piece of felt in half lengthwise and cut out half a mustache shape starting at the fold. You may want to practice cutting mustache shapes out of a piece of scrap paper to find a size and shape you like. Glue the mustache to the jar. Once your mustache is in place, glue two wiggle eyes to the jar just above the mustache. Let the glue dry.

Once the paint and glue are dry, place your special 'stache', whether it is spare change or something else, in your jar and place the lid on it!
