By , About.com Guide

Follow these instructions, shared by Cheryl, and create a personalized bank using fabric scraps and a coffee can.

  • Age Guideline: 5 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Start out by making sure your coffee can is clean and free of sharp edges.

Use a marker to write something on your can. Cheryl suggests writing 'Thank You" or you can use a person's name.

Cut a variety of fabric into small pieces - strips and squares work well. Glue the small piece of fabric to the can. Use at least two colors of fabric. Use one color to trace over the letters you wrote and then use another color to cover the rest of the can. Let the glue dry.

Carefully cut a slit in the lid of the can. Place the stickers on the lid. Put the lid on and your bank is ready to add coins.

Tip from Sherri: Use decoupage medium and decoupage techniques to attach the fabric onto the can.
