The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Oven Flour Clay
- Cookie Cutters (optional)
- Paper or Plastic Plate
- Paper
- Paint
- Fishing Line
Instructions:
Start out by preparing the clay as explained on the recipe page. Make 4 nature shapes out of the clay (specific animals, insects, trees, flowers, etc.) using cookie cutters if you like. Poke a hole in the top of each shape before you put it in the oven.
Next, cut the paper plate in half and then punch 4 holes, evenly spaced, along the straight edge. Print out or write your name on paper, cut it out, and glue it to the paper plate. Write a "God made..." statement for each shape you made; for example "God made the birds, "God made the butterflies", etc. Cut them out and glue them to the paper plate.
Paint your clay shapes. Once the paint is dry, string the end of a piece of fishing line (about 12-inches long) through the hole in the top of the shape and tie. Thread the other end of the fishing line through one of the holes you punched in the plate and tie.
Once you have all of the shapes attached to the paper plate, punch a hole in the top edge of the plate. Thread a short piece of fishing line through this hole so you can hang up your mobile.
