Bottle Cap Boot Scraper Craft

How to Make a Boot Scraper Using Bottle Caps

From , former About.com Guide

Patience, age 73, explains how her father came up with this project for them when she was about 6 years old in hopes that it would help keep them out of mischief.

  • Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 60 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

  • A 2"x 8"x16" Board
  • Approximately 128 Bottle Caps
  • Approximately 128 Roofing Nails
  • Hammer

Instructions:
To make this project, you simply cover one side of the board by nailing on bottle caps upside down as close together as you can.

Submitted by Rhea: Rhea submitted the same project, adding "If you are truly creative you can make the pattern look like a boot." She also suggested using a 8" x 12" x 1" board. This is a fun project to do with children, they get a large joy to be making something by themselves, with the help of an adult. Place this by the outside of the door, when it is muddy visitors can clean off their shoes before entering your spotlessly clean floor!
