Chicks in a Basket Craft

Jessica explains how you can make a craft that looks like chicks sitting inside a basket or even an egg!

  • Age Guideline: 5 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 20 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Start out by transforming a pom-pom into a chick! All you need to do it cut out a small triangle beak from orange felt or construction paper and glue it onto a pom-pom. Glue two wiggle eyes just above the beak. You can use any size pom-pom you like. If you use a large pom-pom, you may only need one to fill an egg carton cup. If you use smaller pom-poms, you can make a few chicks to sit in the cup.

Cut one egg carton cup from an egg carton. If you want the chick to sit in a basket, cut the top edge so it is smooth. If you want it to look like the chick is sitting in a broken egg, cut the top edge so it is jagged. If you like, you can also paint the egg carton cup.

Now glue the chick, or chicks, into the egg carton cup so it looks like it is sitting in a basket or egg. If you like, you can add some Easter grass inside the basket and a chenille stem handle if wanted.

I hope you enjoy this craft project. If you make this craft, make sure you send in a photo so it can be posted here. You can also get your own crafts published.
