- Age Guideline: 8 Years and Up
- Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)
The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
Materials Needed:
- Small Clay Flower Pot
- Paint
- Floral Foam
- Spanish Moss
- Large, Flat Stick (Such as a paint stir stick or tongue depressors)
- Clothespin
- Embellishments (Depending on the party theme or holiday)
- Paint Brush
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Instructions:
Start off by painting your clay flower pot whatever color you like. Also paint the stick and the clothespin. Let them all dry.
Use a butter knife to trim a piece of floral foam to fit into the pot. Glue the Spanish moss on top of the foam and work it around the sides to hide the foam.
Now is the fun part.... Push the painted stick through the foam to stand up in the pot. Glue the clothespin to the top of the stick. The clothespin will hold the place card. Decorate the pot with different items depending on the occasion you are making the place card for.
Corrina's clay pot place card holder was made for Easter so she used a small chick and plastic Easter eggs. You can make this project for any occasion! You can easily make them for Thanksgiving by painting the pot black and using silver paint to make it look like a buckle on the top. It could be used for sorority functions, bridal showers, teas, and the list can go on and on.
