Perhaps you have already tried making origami, using some of these easy patterns; or, perhaps you have always just been fascinated by all that can be created by simply folding paper and wanted to try it. No matter which of these two categories you fall into, I suggest you take a peek at Crease + Fold by Sok Song.

Song starts out with a chapter titled Origami 101. In this section, you will find the most common folds, symbols, and bases used in origami. He explains that if you practice these basics you will easily be able to make all of the origami creations in this book and many more. Song addresses topics such as choosing the right paper and how to make folding stress-free. There is also a collection of step-by-step directions to make bases that are the starting point for many origami projects. I think it is great that the author also included, in this section, a convenient index of different symbols and folds you can reference easily.

Of course, the majority of the pages in this book are filled with directions to make wonderful origami designs. The projects are broken down into 3 different categories: small, medium, and large. You can start out making a tiny songbird and swimming turtle, move onto medium-sized snack bowls and sweetheart dresses, and then top it all off with large storage boxes and even a jumbo momma elephant.
