You may have already explored my creative printmaking ideas and maybe even shared your own, but if you are ready to move beyond the basic ideas I provide, check out this book! The Print Workshop: Hand-Printing Techniques and Truly Original Projects, will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about printing and then some. The author, Christine Schmidt, shares her expertise and inspiration to help you create printed treasures. Schmidt is and accomplished printer and the founder of Yellow Owl Workshop.

In no time at all, you will learn how to create your own hand-printed stationary, personal polo shirts, and even walls. You will learn all about different printing processes and all about the supplies needed for the different processes. Schmidt goes over the basic supplies you will need, teaches you about colorants and substrates ("a fancy-sounding word for surface that will be printed"), and shares a large variety of specific projects. You will also find a wonderful collection of resources that includes even more tips from the author, a glossary of terms, a collection of suppliers, and templates for many of the projects in the book.

The projects in this book are broken down into four sections and each section covers a different printing process. Each section includes an explanation of that printing process used along with a description the the tools and materials needed for that kind of printing. The four processes covered are relief printing, stencil printing, sun printing, and image transfer printing.

Paging through the projects in this book was inspiring. I especially liked the Veggie Picnic Set, the custom-made Deck of Cards, and the Camera Messenger Bag. There are so many fun and unique projects included in each section of this book that you won't know which one to try first!
