The Bottom Line

Just browsing through the pictures in this book made me want to grab some clay and start crafting. While this is a book more aimed at 'tweens and teens, I found several pieces I wouldn't mind wearing. The projects in this book are not only adorable and unique but also easy!

Guide Review - Clay So Cute!

Not many people I know don't enjoy playing with clay, that includes both kids and adults, and Clay So Cute! will inspire you to do just that. The author, Sherri Haab, not only shares 21 imaginative projects, but also shares her expertise with working with polymer clay.

Sherri Haab starts out by explaining what polymer clay and what basic supplies will help you find success with working with this clay. She also goes over some basic jewelry making and art supplies needed to complete some of the projects in this book. She then includes a section on basic polymer clay techniques. She gives details about conditioning the clay, making basic shapes, a baking your projects. She continues by sharing tips about attaching clay pieces together, fixing broken projects, and much more. She explains everything so even the most novice crafter can easily follow along.

I can't do justice to the projects in this book by simply explaining them. I also couldn't pick a favorite! You can make everything from charms that look like fancy chocolate candies to tiny robots embellished with nuts, bolts, springs, and other hardware-type findings. While many of the projects in this book are fashioned for jewelry you can also find projects for making luggage tags, embellished tins, customized mirrors, and more. The projects in this book are specifically designed for tween girls, but I think many of them will appeal to people of all ages. I think boys would enjoy many of the projects too. The only problem with this book? Deciding what project to make first!
