How to Make a Shadow Picture

  • Age Guideline: 5 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

 

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Tape a large piece of paper to the wall. Have the child stand or sit sideways next to the paper. Darken the room and shine the flashlight or lamp (without a lamp shade) on them so their profile is shadowed on the paper. Trace the shadow.

Cut out the profile and mount it on contrasting piece of paper.

This looks great with the profile cut out of black paper and mounted on white paper or vice versa.
