Amigurumi Monkey Pattern

Are you looking for amigurumi patterns? Do you know what amigurumi is? If you crochet or knit, or just want to learn how, you might want to find out more about amigurumi patterns!

My interest in amigurumi was piqued when I was cleaning out my craft room and came across a collection of yarn balls left over from other projects. Initially, I thought about transforming the yarn scraps into 12" x 12" dishcloths. While I have crocheted plenty of aphgans, I have a only ever crocheted in a straight line. Then, a thought occurred to me... why not try my hand at crocheting something with a little shape to it by attempting to crochet some little critters.

While searching for easy crochet patterns, I kept seeing the word amigurumi. Technically, Amigurumi is "the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small animals or toys". I read that the word amigurumi originally only referred to crocheted critters but over time knitters have created their own amigurumi patterns. We can all share the craft, can't we?

I started searching the Web for amigurumi patterns and found several easy ones to try. I also bought myself a couple of amigurumi books. (The monkey here was made using a pattern from Amigurumi World.)

Here are a collection of amigurumi patterns I have found:

Enjoy these amigurumi patterns and if you want more explore some amigurumi pattern books. If you want to be one of the first to know when new craft projects are posted, take a few moments to sign up for the Family Crafts Newsletter and you can also chat about amigurumi with others in the Family Crafts Forum.
