Materials Needed:
- Empty Egg Carton
- Acrylic Paint
- Fabric
- Craft Glue (optional)
- Decoupage Medium
- Paint Brush
- Small Foam Brush
- Scissors
Instructions:
Start out by making sure your egg carton is clean and dry. Paint the egg carton a color that coordinates with the fabric you will be using. Let the paint dry.
While you are waiting for the paint to dry, you can prepare your fabric. I used small pieces of several different fabrics, but you can use just one fabric if you like. Cut your fabric into several small pieces and completely cover the top of the egg carton. You can use glue or decoupage medium to attach your fabric to your egg carton. Let the glue dry.
The next step in making your jewelry or desk organizer is to seal the fabric using decoupage techniques. All you have to do is apply several thin coats of decoupage medium with a foam brush. Make sure each layer dries completely before applying the next. This step can take 3 or more coats, depending on the finish and shine that you are happy with.
Once your egg carton organizer is completely dry, you can proudly display it or give it as a gift! As a jewelry box, it can sort and hold rings, earrings, cuff links, and so on. As a desk organizer, you can use it to hold small items like paper clips, rubber bands, and push pins.
