How to Make a Dr. Seuss Cat-In-The-Hat Corsage

Sherri Osborn
We used a Dr. Seuss theme for my daughter's baby shower so I thought a Cat-In-The-Hat corsage would be fun! I sat down with a Cat-In-The-Hat puppet I had left over after making the Dr. Seuss diaper cake.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Start out by cutting a piece of felt into a 5" x 2" oval. Cut a piece of ribbon about 24-inches long. Use a needle and thread and run a basting stitch along one edge of the ribbon (just like when I made the ribbon rosette). Pull the thread so that the ribbon gathers and fits around the edge of the felt oval. Make sure that is is gathered enough so it fits all of the way around the oval and you will also want to make sure the felt and the raw ribbon edges are hidden when you glue the cat-in-the-Hat puppet in the middle of the oval. Once you are happy with the fullness and placement of the ribbon, glue it in place using the hot glue gun and glue sticks.

Place a generous amount of hot glue all over what you can still see of the felt over. Carefully place the Cat-In-The-Hat finger puppet on the glue. Carefully glue the bottle into the Cat-In-The-Hat's hands. Let the glue cool completely.

Finally, glue the two pin backings to the back of the corsage. Place one near the top of the oval and one near the bottom. (I only used one pin backing and the corsage kept flipping around.) Let the hot glue cool and your corsage is ready to wear!
