To Make the Smartie Candies Costume: Start out with a plain, light-colored outfit, such as a sweatsuit, and use colored tape to make stripes all the way down it. If you prefer, you can attach fabric stripes to your costume. As a finishing touch, fit a large piece of fabric around a hat to look like the end of the wrapper. Start out by laying the fabric over your head and then put on the hat. Pull the fabric up around the hat and gather the ends on top of the hat and tie it using a piece of string or a rubber band.
To Make the Dum-Dum Sucker Costume: Wear a white sweatsuit or outfit so you body is the stick of the sucker. Take a white piece of fabric that is about 3-feet square. Use fabric paints or pens and write the word DUM-DUM all over it; this will be your sucker wrapper. Let it dry. When you are ready to dress up, put on a helmet, such as a bicycle helmet or motorcycle helmet. Lay the fabric on top of you head, centered on the helmet. Gather it down around your head and loosely tie it around your neck. At this point your face will be covered. Have someone carefully cut out a face hole!
