Frankenstein Windsock Craft

Follow these instructions to make a Frankenstein windsock craft for Halloween using a milk carton.

  • Age Guideline: 5 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

Instructions:
Cut the folding top off the milk carton and make sure it is clean and dry. Flip the milk carton so it is upside down on your work surface. Cut a piece of black craft foam or felt to fit over the bottom of the milk carton and glue it in place. Cut a piece or two of green craft foam or felt to fit around the side of the milk carton and glue it securely on.

Carefully punch a small hole in the bottom of the milk carton through both the milk carton and the black craft foam or felt. Bend a chenille stem in half and poke both ends through the hole so they are inside the carton. Twist the ends together to secure in place. This will be your hanger.

Now you can use craft foam or felt to make your Frankenstein's face. Besides eyes nose and a mouth, you might want to make hair hanging over the forehead, a scar, and bolts near the neck! If you like, use this Frankenstein pumpkin carving pattern.

Cut eight strips of of fabric, each about 2' x 2". Use glue and attach the fabric strips along the inside edge of the milk carton (where you cut it); the pieces should be touching or even slightly over-lapped You may need to cut more strips of fabric! If you prefer you can use masking take to secure the fabric strips instead of glue.

Once all of the glue is dry, hang up your Frankenstein windsock and enjoy!
