Maria Mercedes explains how you can turn an old blanket or sheet and pillow into an adorable Frankenstein monster decoration.

  • Age Guideline: 14 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 60 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

  • Piece of Cloth (from an old blanket)
  • Stuffing (from an old pillow)
  • Paint (see the colors used below)
  • Cardboard
  • Pencil
  • extra fine brush and regular paint brushes
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread or a sewing machine

Instructions:
To begin, download the Frankenstein pattern (Download PDF Frankestein Pattern | Download JPG Frankestein Pattern). Enlarge or reduce the pattern to make the Frankenstein as big or as small as you would like. Transfer the pattern onto a piece of cardboard and use it as a template to trace onto the fabric.

Cut out two Frankenstein patterns. Pin them together, right sides together. Sew them together, leaving the bottom open for stuffing. Clip the curves, turn the Frankenstein right side out, and stuff it using the stuffing from an old pillow. Hand sew the bottom closed.

Use the photo here as a guide. Paint head Apple Orchard Green and bottom Petunia Purple. Let dry. Use Royal Violet to create the lines across the shirt. Let dry.

Transfer the face features to your Frankenstein by cutting out the individual parts of the eye on the pattern you printed and tracing them onto the face with a pencil. Use a very fine brush and black paint to finish off face and hair. Use Pumpkin Orange for the eye color.

Once all of the paint is dry, you can attach your adorable Frankenstein craft to a wreath like Maria Mercedes did or display any other way you like. If you want to hang it up, sew a loop of cord to the top of the head.
