  • Age Guideline: 6 Years and Up
  • Time Required: 30 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

Materials Needed:

You can use either a white garbage bag or a white plastic bag from shopping. If necessary, cut the plastic bag so it is a square or rectangle. Cut 3 piece of mono-filament thread or fishing line, each at least 3-feet long. The length will vary depending on where you want to hang your ghost. Blow up the balloon to about 6 inches (or you can use a styrofoam ball about the same size).

Place the balloon under the center of the plastic bag. Tie one of the pieces of mono-filament or fishing line loosely under the balloon to hold it in place. Use a tack or tape to attach the other end of the fishing line to wherever you want it to hang.

Now, use the other two piece of mono-filament or fishing line to form arms for your ghost. Tie one end of each piece of mono-filament or fishing line to the plastic bag so they are evenly spaced on either side of the balloon head. Tack or tape the other end to wherever you are hanging your ghost.

To make a face for your ghost, use a magic marker to make a face on the bag where the balloon is. You can also cut eye and mouth shapes out of construction paper and glued or tape them in place.
